Post Warwick Castle
My husband and I have recently spent a lovely day out at Warwick castle. It was somewhere neither of us had been before. I realised there may have been problems with access as its a mediaeval fortress but thought we would go along anyway as we are running out of local places to visit.

There is parking near to the main admissions area.It is free for disabled guests but others have to pay £3. The gaps to park in are very tight and the day we went there were loads and loads of coaches. Once in my wheelchair we had to manoeuvre past moving coaches, I think they had run out of parking spaces and I felt as though I was on the hard shoulder of the M25 going in the wrong direction

As a disabled visitor I got in free and was given a detailed booklet of the site, where I could gain access and where not.The booklet had loads of picture of the rooms I could not visit and gave me the history and stories about the castle. My husband had to pay £15.95

As I had thought there were a lot of places I couldn't visit but as it was a lovely hot sunny day we could take in all the outside entertainment. There were, fighting knights, birds of prey, jousting and jesters, my fav.. These took place around the site at different times so you had to go from one place to another to catch the next event. You new where the next event was taking place because the crowds of people moved in one great mass  There were a couple of steep paths that got the hubbys heart rate going, pushing me, but thats not such a bad thing  and they were all tarmaced.
The only real problem was being seated, I could not see much of what was happening, as most people were standing. :(

Lui went around the castle after leaving me parked up. Unfortunatley there wasn't any shaded areas so I was left to roast and boy did I roast :!: He whizzed his way through, keeping me up to date at every exit, although I got more details from my booklet and I was actually telling him things. It would have been nice to see the rooms and the wax work characters but ce'la vie.

We finished our day with a taste pork and stuffing bap. yum yum. It topped the day off nicely. :D

Glad you enjoyed your day at Warwick Traceyanne. I went there last year and had a great day out which was helped by the cracking weather. 8)

We saw the trebouchet (big slingy weapon kind of thing :) )being fired which was interesting but over in a flash. The only room inside the castle I went in was the Armoury which was accessed via the gift shop. I also went into the pump house on the river which had neat lifts for the disabled.

The medieval archery display was fun to see as well and the chap who was explaining it was a laugh.

We also went up to the glasshouse which had stunning views of the gardens which surprisingly I found I liked. Must be getting old!
